Bercée par la musique gospel, le jazz et la soul, en Californie où elle a grandi, Margeaux découvre en France de nouvelles sources d’inspiration. L’approche poétique de l’écriture, la puissance évocatrice des textes et la sensibilité des auteurs influencent alors son parcours artistique. L’interprète américaine entame des collaborations comme chanteuse-auteur-compositeur avec des artistes français aussi variés que les Marathonians, Funkaroma, Les Pétroleuses (producteur de Nouvelle Vague) et Bang Bang, avant de former le groupe Sodex et sortir deux singles, devenus ensuite des hits clubs. Son titre “ Move me ” sera repris sur des compilations en France et le monde entier, ainsi que dans la bande de son du film “ De battre mon cœur s’est arrêté ”. “ Come on boy, come on girl ” sera, lui, utilisé pour une campagne publicitaire mondiale Peugeot.
A la recherche d’une musique à la fois plus intimiste et spontanée, Margeaux redécouvre le jazz et commence à se produire régulièrement sur la scène parisienne et dans les festivals comme Enghien-les-Bains Jazz Festival, Sunset-Sunside Jazz Club ou le Petit Journal Montparnasse. Elle s’entoure de musiciens talentueux comme les pianistes Olivier Hutman, Alain Jean-Marie et Manuel Rocheman, les contrebassistes Blaise Chevallier et Michel Rosciglione, les batteurs Olivier Robin et Thierry Chauvet, le saxophoniste David Sauzay et le guitariste Olivier Louvel.
En 2008, elle propose un premier album de jazz vocal, Love for Sale, qui revisite les grands classiques de jazz tels que Love for sale, Lady is a tramp et Fly me to the moon, mais aussi nous offre deux de ses compositions aux couleurs de la soul américaine et de la bossa nova. La Javanaise sera son petit clin d’œil à la France.

Pour son nouvel album Rain, Margeaux nous livre 9 compositions originales et trois reprises oscillant entre jazz, pop, soul et musique latine. Le pianiste Olivier Hutman, qui a déjà réalisé des albums pour les chanteuses Anne Ducros, Stephy Haïk, Clotilde Rullaud et Denise King, prend en charge la direction artistique, les arrangements et de la réalisation de l’album. Avec ce deuxième opus Margeaux Lampley nous invite à un voyage à la croisée des cultures.

Born in New York, Margeaux Lampley grew up in California, raised on gospel, jazz and soul music. After receiving a law degree from Columbia University in New York, she left the US and an international career in law to live the artist’s life in Paris, studying music with an emphasis on jazz at the CIM music school and the Studio des Variétés.
Very quickly, she was invited to collaborate as a singer-songwriter for various French groups including the Marathonians (“Come on girl, come on boy”, signed by Warner and used for a worldwide Peugeot publicity campaign), Marc Collin (Nouvelle Vague producer), Bang Bang and Funkaroma before forming the the group Sodex and releasing two singles, which became club hits. Her song “Move Me”, was featured on compilations in France and throughout various parts of the world, as well as on the soundtrack of the film “De battre mon coeur s’est arrêté”.
Margeaux Lampley gravitated towards Jazz naturally. With her warm, intimate style, Margeaux is a regular on the Paris jazz scene, Sunset-Sunside Jazz Club, Petit Journal Montparnasse, and European festivals such as Enghien-les-bains Jazz Festival and is making a name for herself throughout France and Europe. She is accompanied by talented musicians such as pianists Olivier Hutman, Alain Jean-Marie and Manuel Rocheman, double bass players Blaise Chevallier, Michel Rosciglione and Philippe Brassoud, drummers Thierry Chauvet, Olivier Robin and Andy Barron, saxophonist David Sauzay and guitarist Olivier Louvel. ニューヨーク生まれ、カリフォルニア育ち。幼少の頃からゴスペル、ジャズ、ソウルミュージックに囲まれて育つ。ニューヨーク、コロンビア大学で法律の学位を取得し国際弁護士として仕事を始めるも、心機一転。パリへ移住しCIMミュージックスクールとStudio des Varietesにてジャズを学ぶ。その後Marathonians, Marc Collins (Nouvelle Vague), Bang Bang, Funkaroma等フランスの様々なアーティストのバッキングコーラスや作詞・作曲も務める。著作”Come on girl, come on boy”は、プジョー車のPRキャンペーン曲に起用され世界的に注目を浴びる。またデュオ »Sodex”のメンバーとしても精力的に活動し、2つのシングルをリリースする。代表曲である”Move Me”は、映画De batter mon Coeur s’est arrêteのサウンドトラックとしてフィーチャーされる。
暖かく優しいスタイルを武器に、マルゴーはSunset-Sunside Jazz Club, Petit Journal Montparnasse等パリのジャズシーンにて常連のアーティストとなる。Enghien-les-bains Jazz Festival等、ヨーロッパの様々なジャズフェスティバルにも参加し、やがてフランスを中心にヨーロッパ内で名声を得る。また、彼女のバンドも素晴らしいミュージシャン達が演奏している。ピアノに Olivier Hutman, Alain Jean-MarieとManuel Rocheman, ダブルベースにBlaise Chevallier, Michel RosciglioneとPhilippe Brassoud, ドラムにThierry Chauvet, Olivier RobinとAndy Barron, テナーサックスとフルートにDavid Sauzay, そしてギターはOlivier Louvelが担当している。

今回のニューアルバム »Rain »にはマルゴーのオリジナル曲を9曲、スタンダード曲を3曲収録。ジャズ、ポップ、ソウル、ラテンと、多彩なジャンルがミックスされたアルバムに仕上がっている。Anne Ducros, Stephy Haik, Clotilde Rullard, Denise King等数々の著名アーティストのアルバムアレンジャー兼プロデューサーでもあるピアニストのOlivier Hutmanがアレンジを担当、アーティスティックディレクターも務めている。新アルバム »Rain »のパーソナルでスタイリッシュな音楽は聴く人を魅了してやまないだろう。
